NHS Bury CCG has been ranked first for electronic prescription service (EPS) use in England.

NHS Bury CCG has been ranked first for electronic prescription service (EPS) use in England.

Bury CCG has the highest number of pharmacy nominations among its population (23%) and the highest number of electronic prescriptions (37%).
Several general practices and pharmacies in the area use EPS for over 60% of prescriptions.
Local GP and Bury CCG’s clinical lead for IM&T, Dr John Hampson said: “The introduction of the new system has brought with it technical and organisational challenges, but the benefits for patients and clinicians are clear.
“EPS is at the forefront of technological advancement in primary care and the local community of health professionals should be congratulated on overcoming the challenges we faced along the way and making the implementation a success without the need for external support.”
All 33 member practices of Bury CCG currently use the same clinical system.
The statistics are derived from the number of GP practices and pharmacies live with EPS and the percentage of all prescriptions issued using the service during February 2013
