The GP Dr James Davies has been elected to serve on the House of Commons health and social care committee.
The Conservative MP for the Vale of Clwyd previously sat on the committee between 2015 and 2017.
His re-appointment comes after he won back the marginal Vale of Clwyd seat from Labour’s Chris Ruane in December’s general election.
Dr Davies, an NHS GP with a special interest in dementia, joins former health secretary Jeremy Hunt, who was last week announced as the new chair of the committee.
Mr Hunt replaced GP Dr Sarah Wollaston in chairing the committee, which scrutinises NHS and Government policies.
Dr Wollaston lost her Totnes parliamentary seat after defecting the Tories to join the Liberal Democrats last year.
Dr Davies, who has also been elected to serve on the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments, took to Twitter to thank fellow Tory MPs for their endorsement.
