Healthcare leaders in Yorkshire are looking to hire a marketing company to launch a 'public awareness campaign' to promote the region's plans to overhaul healthcare in the area.

Humber, Coast and Vale sustainability and transformation plan is calling for bids on a £10,000 contract from marketing companies to launch a social media campaign to inform patients about healthcare changes in the area.

The healthcare leaders have said the campaign will use ‘social media and guerrilla marketing’ tactics to link the work of the STP ‘with real life patient and service user experience’.

The campaign, which will launch in April 2017, aims to connect with ‘commonly overlooked’ patients in the area that ‘have limited access to digital media’.

In a statement the STP said they want the public to ‘understand the need for change’ in the region.

They added: ‘We want to turn down the noise about cuts to services and risks to the NHS, and be able to demonstrate that our population understands that a focus on quality and prevention will sustain services into the future.’

The Humber, Coast and Vale STP needs to save £420m by 2021 and, like many of the proposals, the healthcare leaders plan to move more care into the community and out of hospitals.

The deadline for bids to the contract is 17 February.
